Andy Sparsis and Tessa Beck, Birdman Competition Winner

More than 30 youngsters rose to the challenge to come up with creative and colourful costume designs during their stay at Worthing Hospital’s children’s ward. Andrew Sparsis, owner of Proto Restaurant Group came up with the idea for the children to design a costume for him for when he jumps at the Birdman on Sunday 15th August.

The winning costume designed by eight year old Tessa Beck, was a cheerleader costume from the blockbuster movie, High School Musical.  Mr Sparsis is now in the process of having a cheerleader costume made to his size along with a wig and pom poms which he plans to wear when he takes part in the Birdman competition in aid of the Love your Hospitals charity.

Mr Sparsis said he is really looking forward to doing the jump this year as for the last two years he has helped out with other teams, so he is hoping to get a lot of support from doing the jump.  Mr Sparsis hopes to raise £2000 for the Love your Hospitals Charity which supports both Worthing and Southlands Hospitals and St Richard’s in Chichester”.

So come on everyone, dig deep and support Mr Sparsis in Birdman! Click here NOW to go to his Just Giving Page.

Forget the weather – enjoy the hot new read for Summer!

Thursday, July 15th, 2010
DO A MADONNA

DO A MADONNA

The new hot read for the summer, as recommended by The Chamber of Commerce is: DO A MADONNA!™.

The author is Vicky Vaughan, twice award-winning brand consultant and managing director of The Brand Surgery. Vicky has commended Proto Restaurant Group as an example of excellent branding, and has benchmarked us as an example to other businesses to follow.

Vicky says: “I created DO A MADONNA!™ because as a branding consultant, I am concerned over the number of businesses I meet who depend on their logo and marketing collateral as a lifeline to business success. DO A MADONNA!™ educates business owners and their employees that a brand is only successful once it becomes a good memory.

Why have I called my book DO A MADONNA? I have used this analogy because Madonna is a massive inspiration to me, and I believe that other businesses and their employees can learn from her innovative evolvement, attention to detail, combined with my business branding philosophy. I want to help and nurture small businesses to avoid disaster and hardship, by educating them on the importance of branding.

To become a brand, just like Proto Restaurant Group, one must focus on customer care, attitude, ambience, personal branding and much more. To make the book more engaging for readers, I have highlighted some local, national and international services and establishments I have sampled. I have also set the UK the ultimate challenge of rebranding their reception areas if they are not already immaculate. It doesn’t matter whether you are a mechanic, an insurance company, a funeral director or a dentist – there is no excuse not to make a good first impression.

I am donating 5% of my book profits to Madonna’s charity, Raising Malawi and helping young businesses to get off the ground and stay there. Log on to www.doamadonna.com to order your copy at only £10, the most competitive branding consultation around!

I have thoroughly enjoyed writing this book and my second book is well on the way. I am writing a range of booked called “DO A …..”. Guess who is next on my list?”

To win a signed copy of DO A MADONNA!™ Send a photo of your reception area/or guess the name of my next book,  along with your name, contact telephone number, email address and postal address (inc Postcode) to Vicky Vaughan, DO A MADONNA!™, 23 Harrow Road, Worthing, West Sussex BN11 4RB. I guarantee that your name will not be passed to any third parties. Please state if you would not like to receive more information about the book on your entry.

Proto Restaurant Group supports the Worthing Calendar 2011

Worthing Calendar 2011

Worthing Calendar 2011

There’s something new happening in Worthing. It’s creative. It’s fashion. It’s trendy, and it makes Worthing look absolutely beautiful, highlighting many of its features, with the help of some beautiful models.

The Worthing Calendar is raising money for St. Barnabas Hospice in Worthing. And naturally, Proto Restaurant Group is helping this worthwhile, iconic project by giving it some exposure, as well as donating a meal for four at one of it’s restaurants – either at Food or The Fish Factory restaurants in Worthing and Littlehampton, Sussex.

The calendar is a celebration of fashion, history and our beautiful town, and is the idea of Sadie Collis, pictured below. Sadie’s father died of pancreatic cancer 10 years ago and he didn’t make it long enough to reach St Barnabas Hospice. Instead, he benefited from the outreach support of St Barnabas Hospice. Knowing that his last few days were lived in relative peace, Sadie will always be grateful to St. Barnabas Hospice for their care. Producing this calendar is Sadie’s way of saying a big thank you to St. Barnabas and at the same time it raises aware for the incredible volunteers and surroundings.

The calendars are very reasonably priced and you can click here to buy your calendar.

About the Western Sussex Hospitals Charities: Love your Hospitals charity

The Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust are two acute general hospitals and one local general hospital serving the whole of West Sussex. Our sites are Worthing Hospital, St Richards Hospital in Chichester and Southlands hospital in Shoreham-by-sea. We are committed to providing excellent facilities for patients and staff but there’s always more that can be done, that’s why the Charity exists to ensure ” That patients receive the best and most modern treatment ” That their stay is made as comfortable as possible, and ” That staff have the best working environment in order to provide first class patient care. Most wards in the hospitals have their own fund and donations from patients and visitors alike are always welcomed. The money will then be managed by the charitable trust to ensure that all donations are carefully recorded, thanked and invested until required. We run a range of fundraising initiatives from recycling to overseas events, organising events and skydives to the lottery and general fundraising. We support all of our fundraisers in their efforts and are always so grateful to anyone who can help us raise money for our hospitals. Please help us to help you “Love your Hospitals”

BRAND NEW Spoil Menu gets the World Cup treatment

Thursday, May 13th, 2010
Proto World Cup Spoil Menu

Proto World Cup Spoil Menu

It would be ‘Rooney’ not to announce the BRAND NEW World Cup edition of our world famous Spoil Menu which is available at The Fish Factory restaurants in both Worthing and Littlehampton, West Sussex. The line-up on our new Spoil menu is even more tasty than the England Team!

Would you rather have Ashley Cole or Fish Wellington? At least you know that you can love our Fish Wellington and it won’t be unfaithful to you, plus it contains a Dream-Team winning combination of Salmon, Cod and Haddock layered with cheese sauce and sliced potatoes, wrapped into pastry and roasted. Served with seasonal vegetables.

Then there is the delicious Lobster, Prawn and Scallop Fondue, which has a Swiss flavour. How can you not resist Melted Swiss cheese sauce served with warm prime pieces of lobster, prawn & scallop meat and potato croutons. John Terry would love this, but he’d better be careful who he shares it with! Actually, our customers say this fondue dish is far too good to share and they want it all to themselves – therefore, this fondue has been carefully created to feed one mouth only!

Other dishes include Soup De Poisson’s (France), Sagnaki (Greece), Brushetta con Ancoveys e Funghi (Italy), Peppered Butter Fish and Beef Burger Patties. Yum! We wonder what country will win your choice in our very own World cup? Phone us now to book a table!
