Third year sponsors of The Splash FM Awards – Proto Restaurant Group

Proto Restaurant Group sponsored the Splash FM awards last night for the third year running. The awards ceremony, organised by Splash FM, took place at the Dome Cinema in Worthing last Thursday (Thursday 17th March) and Proto Restaurant Group was extremely proud to be sponsoring such a fantastic event.

There were 15 awards given out throughout the evening including sporting star, pub of the year and the courage award which were won by Harrison Reed, Bar Release and Shane Wallace respectively. Other notable winners were the Mum and Dad of the year awards won by Wendy Robinson and Scott Mellhuish.

Proto Restaurant Group is especially proud to be sponsoring an event with such awards as it rewards those that really deserve it, especially Mum’s and Dad’s who quite often don’t get the recognition they deserve.

Proto Restaurant Group also walked away with an award winning Restaurant of the Year for Food. Karen Warland, the Floor Manager at Food Restaurant had the following to say about the award:

Alberto Castro, who is the Executive Chef at Food, was absolutely delighted with the award:

Nominations for Food Restaurant were for the quality experience that is offered – including the lavish, open plan dining room,  it’s welcoming and attentive staff, and the entertainment, which includes regular live jazz – and a number of themed evenings through the year.

The entire evening at the awards was a joyous, laid back and exciting evening for all those that attended, with notable attendees including Worthing Mayor Ann Sayers.

Proto Restaurant Group – New Home Page Unveiled

We have been working on the new Proto Restaurant Group home page since the new year and are very excited to unveil it! It has been jazzed up by making it interactive and fun. You can see the new look below – click on the image to visit our website and see how it all works!

You may recognise some of the styling. We have taken the best bits of The Fish Factory menu and Food menu and blended them into a funky, modern, stylish web page design. Which is your favourite animation? And can you guess which waiter the illustration was styled on?

PS. You can turn the sound down so your boss doesn’t catch you skiving!

All of us here at Proto Restaurant Group are devastated over the loss of Chris Copsey, known as Coppo, who worked over the past 18 months for Splash FM.

Coppo was a broadcasting legend, who was fantastic at supporting our local community, and we felt privileged to have worked with him.

Our hearts go out to his family and friends at this sad time.

RIP Coppo. From all the team at The Fish Factory in Worthing and Littlehampton, and Food restaurant in Worthing.

Proto Club Members can pop in and listen to the choir at Splash FM Christmas Party at Food Restaurant on 6th December 2010.

We are kicking off the festive season with the first of the Splash FM nights this coming Monday at Food restaurant in Worthing,

And if you want to join in the fun, you’d better hurry, hurry, hurry, because we only have limited availability – in fact – we only have five tickets left for 6th December and we are completely sold out on 13th December!

Jack Bowden wins Young Chef 2010 – judged by Proto Restaurant Group

For the second year running, Andrew Sparsis and head chef, Stuart Slevin from Proto Restaurant Group were asked to judge the Rotary Young Chef competition and the winner was  Jack Bowden from Durrington High School. This competition was open to all secondary schools in Great Britain and Ireland in search of the Rotary Young Chef 2010. Young Chef 2010 encourages students to show off their creative culinary talents by preparing a healthy three-course meal for two for under £5.

Jack will now have the chance to participate in the finals next April and the overall winner of the 2010 competition will receive a cheque for £250, win an amazing trip for two to Tuscany to visit Filippo Berio’s olive grove “La Traversagna” and sample the delights of Italian cuisine.

If you fancy the infamous ambience of Food restaurant, for starters, you can choose from four delicious dishes, including Honey Smoked Salmon Tabouli which is oak smoked fillets placed on cracked wheat and garnished with beetroot tartar sauce, cooked to perfection by our award-winning chef. For the main course, you can choose from five beautiful dishes including: Lymington Bay Fish Supper which is smoked haddock, cod roe, figs and cheese sauce. We also have traditional Christmas dinner, vegetarian, and many delicious meat dishes.

First off, we have frozen prices this year – so you can dine with us and relax knowing that your bank manager will still love you! You will also be pleased to know that we will be serving traditional Christmas dinner at Food, and at both of our Fish Factory restaurants. There is something for everyone – with vegetarians also well catered for.

For the main course, you can choose from five beautiful dishes including: Coriander & Sage Dusted Lamb, which is dressed rump served with leek & mustard potato mash and a vegetable parcel.
