Andy Sparsis during Jail Break Promotion

Andy Sparsis during Jail Break Promotion

Proto Restaurant Group owner Andy Sparsis was arrested on 7th March as a charity promotion for the ‘Love Your Hospitals‘ charity. On arrival at Durrington Police custody suite, his bail was set at £1000 and he was placed in the cells. His task, was to phone everybody he knew from local businessmen/women to suppliers, to ask them to donate money in order to raise the bail money required and allow him to be released.

Andy successfully raised his bail limit and more, raising over £2000 for the ‘Love Your Hospitals‘ charity and the new cardiac unit at our local Worthing Hospital. Proto owner Andy was not the only one to be arrested in similar fashion, and his bail money, combined with that of fellow cell mates Julian Church, Darren Crabb and Lee Noakes, over £6000 was raised for the charity, a fantastic effort all-round.

Everybody at Proto Restaurant Group’s restaurants – Food and The Fish Factory (Worthing & Littlehampton) -  is extremely proud of Andy and all the continued work he is doing for the charity and we are very happy to be associated with such a worthwhile cause. If you want to read more about the Jail Break, pick up a copy of the Worthing Herald this week for a double page feature on the charitable promotion.

Proto Restaurant Group provides favourite places to eat

Friday, November 4th, 2011

It has long been regarded in the local area that Proto Restaurant Group’s restaurants are the top places to eat in Worthing and Littlehampton, but now they have reached the next level!

There was an article in the Evening Standard on 12th October, which talks about Worthing’s growth as a town and how it is stepping out of the shadow of it’s big brother, Brighton. The article goes on to explain exactly why Worthing is such a catch, with fantastic architecture, brilliant schools, great pubs and superb restaurants. Proto Restaurant Group’s two Worthing based restaurants – Food and The Fish Factory – are mentioned as the rated places to eat in town by locals.

Proto Restaurant Group, Food and The Fish Factory are all extremely proud to be doing their bit towards putting Worthing on a map. Proto always likes to get involved with the local community with fundraisers and charity events as we feel that Worthing deserves to be regarded as highly as Brighton as it is such a fantastic town.

Not only are Proto pleased to be mentioned in the article, but they are proud to have restaurants situated in a town on the up! To book a table at any of our restaurants, call us on 01903 227780 (Food), 01903 207123 (The Fish Factory, Worthing) or 01903 715000 (The Fish Factory, Littlehampton).

The Fish Factory voted top restaurant

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

The Fish Factory in Worthing has been featured in an article of top restaurants in the UK outside of London. The article, written for Sainsbury’s magazine, features 37 excellent restaurants and eateries around the country, as voted for by their readers.

A quote was included by Jane Blackman, presumably one of the reader’s that voted for Proto Restaurant Group’s restaurant, The Fish Factory:

‘The best fish and chips in the area with amazing service and a huge choice of seafood, as well as veggie options.’
Jane Blackman

Everyone at The Fish Factory and Proto Restaurant Group are extremely proud of this achievement, especially as only four restaurants were selected from the South East, meaning The Fish Factory, Worthing beat off plenty of competition to earn a place in the magazine.

The full article can be found here with The Fish Factory located on the right hand side of page 2 (in the blue box for South East).

If you would like to book a table at The Fish Factory and experience just what is so special about the restaurant, call us on 01903 207123 or come in and visit us on Brighton Road, Worthing.

Worthing Herald gives accolade to top “Food” restaurant

Friday, April 29th, 2011

Proto Restaurant Group’s Food Restaurant in Worthing was featured in April’s Edition of Simply Sussex – the FREE magazine that comes with the Worthing Herald, Littlehampton Gazette, etc.

Food Restaurant – in New Street, Worthing – was given a fantastic review headlined with “Hungry for some nice food” and we thought we’d share it with you! Below are some extracts from the article.

Food Express Menu

“When you get the last table in a restaurant on a week-day lunchtime, you know it must be doing something right. That was exactly the case at Food in New Street, Worthing, on a recent Friday.
….
I went for the steak and frites, a delicious bargain which included a lovely piece of medium-cooked steak, a stack of crispy fries, some fried onions and a yummy blue cheese sauce.
My colleague settled on the house bangers – deliciously meaty local Cumberland sausages with creamy mash “without the slightest hint of a lump”, served with a red wine sauce and caramelised onions.

Food is tucked away in Worthing, but it’s clear many people have been tracking it down to enjoy its great food. If you haven’t found it yet, you had better get looking.”
